CfP: History of Environmental Movements and Thought

The Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar and the Croatian Society for Economic and Environmental History are organising the “Conference on the History of Environmental Movements and Development of Environmental Thought”, to be held in September 2014 in Zagreb, Croatia.

The Conference aims to bring together scholars from different scientific fields as well as the direct participants of environmental movements to share their research and experience and to provide a better insight of the origin and development of ecological/environmental movements in the area enclosed by the eastern Alps, Danube and Adriatic Sea. Also, the focus of the conference is on the development of the environmental/ecological thought.

The deadline for proposals is March 20, 2014.

All issues of the journal, founded in 2005 by the Association of Croatian Economic and Environmental History (Zagreb) and the publishing house “Meridijani” (Samobor), are freely accessible online at the link above.

The scholarly journal Ekonomska i ekohistorija (Economics and eco-history) invites submissions in English for a special issue on «History and Sustainability» to be published in 2014. The editors of this special issue, Hrvoje Petrić and Paul Hirt, invite submissions dealing with any area of the world and any chronological period, but especially seek articles on central Europe, the Adriatic, and the Balkans. Essays based on original research as well as literature reviews and critical/theoretical essays about history and sustainability are welcome.

Deadline for submission for this special issue is 1 July 2013.
