Position: Communications Associate
Application Deadline: July 20, 2010
Start Date: September 1, 2010

The Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society is looking for a native English speaker to join its team as a part-time communications associate. The RCC is an international, interdisciplinary research institute located in central Munich, founded in 2009 as a joint initiative of the LMU Munich and the Deutsches Museum. The working language of the Center is English.

The communications associate will copyedit texts such as online newsletters, grant proposals, and scholarly manuscripts. He or she will periodically draft texts such as press releases or event reports, and will be responsible for updating and maintaining the Center's website using the LMU CMS Fiona (training will be provided). Applicants should enjoy working with colleagues of diverse cultural backgrounds and be able to balance multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have copyediting experience. Computer literacy is essential; knowledge of German is preferred. Interest in environmental studies would be an advantage. The position is part-time – 19 hours a week. Working hours are flexible.

The Rachel Carson Center is an equal opportunity employer – minorities, women, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
