Annual Meeting European Association for Environmental History, UK Branch 2006

Document Actions
The EAEH, UK Branch, in association with ESEH will hold its annual meeting on 19 May, 2006. The theme of the meeting is: "Resources, the past and the present".

The aim of this year's meeting is to examine environmental history in two different aspects of resources. At one level it considers environmental history as the history of the exploitation of physical resources by humans. This could include straightforward examples of past resource use, or more theoretical reflections on the nature of environmental history. The other very different level is to see the past and its study as a resource for current understanding of environmental topics. Out of this there arises the question of what evidential resources exist that are of particular interest in the process of environmental history.

Our usual diversity of papers is to be retained, so proposals for papers in other areas of environmental history would also be welcome.

The conference will be held at the Open University, Milton Keynes. As usual there is no charge. Tea and coffee is easily accessible during conference breaks. Attenders can buy lunch in the refectory, and we can go to the bar afterwards! We have some exciting papers in mind, but further proposals would be welcome. It would be helpful if you could reply by mid April, especially if you wish to give a paper, so that we may send out additional information.
