Conference "The town and its environment - Environmental and urban transformations"

It will be the first phase of a research process that tries to
investigate how the components of the socio-economic development
contitioned the ecosystems of the Modena area during the XXth Century
and which results public administrations achieved in
environmental-quality improvement.
After the first months of research, the conference will give a general
framework of the historical transformations that, during the XXth
century, caused changes in the environment. It will also present a
picture of the politics undertaken, with a special focus on the
industrialization process, on the economic growth after the Second World
War, on the transformations of the territory and on the urban plans and
politics.
Some of the researchers are those who were protagonists of the
environmental governance of the second half of that century and, in the
second part of the conference, they will present their "environmental
reconstruction".

The research results will be described and published in the "Annal of
the XXth Century of Modena".
