H- Environment is an online network that promotes dialogue among scholars interested in environmental history. Environmental history is the study of human interactions with the natural world over time. The parent organisation of the list is H-Net, an international scholarly organisation dedicated to promoting the scholarly use of the Internet and electronic resources. H-Environment is co-sponsored by the American Society for Environmental History and the European Society for Environmental History.

H-Environment List

The H-Environment was established to provide a platform for discussion and the exchange of information about activities, research etc. in the field of environmental history.

We invite anyone interested in environmental history to subscribe. Instead searching for information about upcoming events, timely information and debates arrive daily in your e-mail box. The list is both interactive and faster than other means of communication within the academic and research world!

What is it?

The list is an e-mail based communication medium. Perhaps the best way to describe the value of the H-Environment List is to engage in it. The forum is the place to get more involved in the field of environmental history. As a subscriber to the list you feel truly part of the international environmental history community. Many of the leading scholars in the field participate in the discussions here.

Subscribers share information on current research and teaching interests; discuss new approaches, methods ad tools of analysis; and comment on literature in the field of environmental history. H-Environment also posts on a regular basis bibliographies ad original scholarly reviews.

Subscribe to the list if you like and learn about environmental history; or pose questions about a particular topic to receive answers from other scholars and gain a variety of insights into it.

How to subscribe?

To become a member of the list you can subscribe in two different ways. The easiest method is by visiting the subscription page on the H-Net web site at: www.h-net.org/lists/subscribe.cgi.

Alternatively you can subscribe by email by sending the following message to listserve@h-net.msu.edu:

After subscription you will receive a welcome e-mail and from then on you will receive all mail distributed to the list. You can also post a message, for example a request for information on some topic or call for papers for a meeting, for distribution to the list. An editor will then review your message and distribute it to the subscribers on the list.
