ESEH 2022 and 2023 Conferences

The next, 11th, ESEH conference will take place in the city of Bristol. Home to a radical, increasingly green, politics and a vibrant hub for the UK’s creative industries, the city is also the global capital of wildlife filmmaking. Indeed, the University of Bristol is now home to the world’s most extensive wildlife film archive. Taking place from 4th-8th July 2022 (with one digital, online-only day), the conference will have an unique – totally Bristol – feel, including director-led film showings, climate change exhibitions, engagement with youth activists and community campaigners, and featuring immersive interaction with creative means of connecting with the more-than-human natural world. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our beautiful city as we reconnect with each other after a turbulent several years, and as we think about the role and direction of environmental history in a time of multidimensional rupture. We are also really proud to say that our conference will set a new set of precedents for ESEH conferences: egalitarianism will be at the heart of what we deliver, and we will foster a collective perspective which is welcoming, inclusive and committed to personal and planetary wellbeing.

The conference website can be found here.

Initial registration for all paper and poster presenters will open in the Autumn. For more information, please contact the Chairs of the LAC, Dr Andy Flack and Dr Marianna Dudley, and the Chair of the Programme Committee, Professor Sandra Swart (eseh-2022@bristol.ac.uk)
