Travel Grants for ESEH Bern Conference – 2023

The ESEH and the Local Organising Committee of Bern 2023 will make available a limited number of grants for ESEH members who will deliver papers or present posters (as the main author) at the 2023 ESEH Conference in Bern who are unable to attend the conference without external support. These travel grants are intended for graduate students, independent scholars, and those from low-income countries.

The 2023 travel grant policy is as follows.
1) In some cases we will be able to cover the full costs associated with attending the conference, inclusive of travel expenses, accommodation,  and visa (if applicable). However, this policy is not applicable for scholars travelling to Bern from other places in Switzerland.
2) In other cases, grants are intended to encourage rather than fully subsidy of travel or accommodation i.e. costs will be only partially covered.

Both in case 1 and case 2, conference fees will not be covered. The amount granted will be payable only in person at the conference desk in Bern, upon signing a declaration that this money is used solely to attend the conference.

Since we are applying for extra funds to secure more travel grants, we will enforce a two-step procedures. Please, read carefully the following sections and make sure to follow these instructions to submit your application. Due to the high volume of applications, we will not be always able to provide each you of with individual assistance.

How to apply:
STEP 1 (by 31 October 2022):
At the time of submitting your proposal for the conference (at this link), please just indicate that you are in need of a travel grant by ticking the appropriate box. If you are part of a session submitted by someone else, you will receive an automatic email asking you to create an account as soon as possible. Please note that this account is only used for communication purpose only and not for registration for the conference. If you have indicated your interest in receiving a travel grant and your paper has been accepted (acceptance and rejection notifications will be sent shortly after New Year 2023), fill out the eseh2023_bern_travel grant_application form .
